Geotechnical Project Manager with PE

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for project management and oversight of assigned projects for the Geotechnical department. This position will complete projects for both new and existing clients. ResponsibilitiesTravel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle when necessaryManage the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projectsMentor geotechnical engineers, geologists, project manager and techniciansProvide on-site project management as requiredEnsure projects adhere to geotechnical engineering best practices, safety standards and quality control proceduresPerform technical review of proposals, reports and calculationsCreate, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports in a timely mannerDevelop and manage projects with new and existing clients, ensuring profitabilityReview, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projectsMaintain excellent communication both verbally and electronically with senior management, other project managers, field staff and colleaguesDemonstrated commitment to safety, quality and integrityFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther tasks as assignedQualificationsValid Driver’s License with acceptable driving recordRequired: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university Required: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferably in VA, DC, MD or able to get reciprocity for those statesRequired: 2-3 years of Geotechnical/CMT full-time work experience with degreeKnowledge of geotechnical and construction materials testing methods, ASTM standards, and soil classificationsAbility to calculate results from geotechnical/construction materials testing dataAbility to read and interpret construction documentsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to write technical reports, proposals, business correspondences and/or procedure manuals as neededAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memosAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general publicExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technology/computerStrong leadership skills and an eye for detailKnowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsDays and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday Some weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be requiredYou may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic regionOffice work requiring long-term sitting and computer workOccasionally exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environmentsTypically, this position involves 75% office work and 25% field work, depending on the week/workAbility to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)Ability to occasionally lift and/or move/shake up to 40lbs. (soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus); frequently lift and/or move up to 60lbs. (soil and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment); and occasionally move more than 100lbs.
