Geotechnical Engineer - Marine Works

Abu Dhabi

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Geotechnical Engineer to join our team! In this role you need to supervise construction project related to marine work.

What You'll Be Doing:

Ensures compliance with required specification, tolerances, safety factors and client requirements.

Checks orthographic (2D) drawings prepared by others. May provide direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.

The Geotechnical Engineer should be able to do the following work independently:

Preparation and review of geotechnical factual and interpretative reports based on ground conditions of exploratory borehole, test pits, cpt, spt, grading analysis and other required ground investigation operations and tests. 

Review of Contractor’s technical submissions for drawings, works method statements and program to ensure compliance with the project specifications.

Preparation of geotechnical desk and walkover survey reports, proposal.

Monitor Ground Investigation Surveys.

Assist in preparation, supervision and interpretation of ground investigation data including interpreting of the geotechnical design parameters.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelors degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology from a reputable university 

Minimum 10 years experience in the field of geotechnical engineering of which at least 6 years as site engineer in a consulting environment.

At least 5 years experience, of the 10 minimum, in marine works.

Knowledge of the Arabic language and GCC experience is an advantage.

Demonstrable understanding of the principles of Soil Mechanics and Rock Mechanics

Understanding of and experience in application or soil classification, site investigations design, in-situ and laboratory testing, foundation design for shallow and deep foundations, slope stability analyses in rock and soil, temporary works design, retaining wall design, application of rock mass classification systems.

Basic understanding of related sciences such as hydrology, environmental, geophysics, hydrogeology, surface water management.
