Position Summary:  
As a Geotechnical Project Manager Professional Engineer (PE), you will provide project management and oversight of assigned projects for the Geotechnical Department.  These projects will have a focus on both shallow and deep foundation for geotechnical engineering.Job Responsibilities:Travel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, inside/outside upkeep and complete monthly vehicle inspection reports) Provide guidance and oversight to staff professionals for collection of field dataMentor other geotechnical staffReview and interpret field samples for geotechnical analysis   Schedule and manage subcontractorsGenerate reports, recommendations and other documentation needed by clients, including engineering and designDevelop and manage projects with clientsCreate, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports in a timely mannerClassify soils per ASTM standards Review, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projectsPrepare and meet project budgetsExamine engineering reports, lot letters and field recommendations produced by field staffConduct site meetings, site estimates, and project recommendations for prospective and current clientsReview, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projectsMaintain excellent communication both verbally and electronically with senior management, project managers and colleaguesDemonstrated commitment to safety, quality and integrityFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther tasks as assignedQualifications & Skills:Qualifications:Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record  4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited universityProfessional Engineering license (PE) or Engineering Intern license (EI/EIT) and ability to obtain PE within 1-2 years2-3 years of Geotechnical full-time work experience2+ years of project management and oversight/mentorship of other geotechnical professionals/techniciansSkills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technologyStrong computer and math skillsAbility to read and interpret construction documentsKnowledge of geotechnical engineering calculations (soil settlement, bearing pressure, slope stability)Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memosKnowledge of geotechnical and construction materials testing methods, ASTM standards, and soil classificationsAbility to calculate results from geotechnical/construction materials testing dataAbility to read and interpret construction documentsAbility to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figuresAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to write technical reports, proposals, business correspondences and/or procedure manuals as neededAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memosAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general publicKnowledge of Microsoft Suite, Boring Log software, AutoCAD and other engineering design software, deep foundation software, slope stability software, laboratory software and settlement software Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technology/computerStrong leadership skills and an eye for detailProficient use of Microsoft Word and ExcelWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements:Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environmentsField work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and potentially repetitive motionsTypically, this position involves 80% office work, 20% field work, depending on the week/workAbility to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic regionSome weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be requiredWho We Are:   UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
