Dewberry is currently seeking a Geospatial Analyst to join our Resilience Solutions group in Fairfax, VA.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical responsibilities include:
GISData feature extraction/compilation.Data editing and attribute management.Create a variety of digital mapping products using various software platforms.Capture and analyze data.Create and manipulate databases.Elevation data processing and manipulation.Customize workflows to meet product needs and enhance analytic processes.Perform data cleaning and preprocessing tasks using Python scripting.Serve as a technical resource on geospatial data analysis and make recommendations to optimize and/or standardize workflows.Produce workflow documentation and perform quality checks.Assisting engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping.Producing the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and update related geospatial databases.Developing flood risk products and performing flood risk assessments.Analyzing GIS datasets for flood hazard mapping and risk analysis projects.Checking for graphical and technical accuracy of FIRM deliverables and associated reports.Coordinating with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product.Collaborating with team members on project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and/or data visualization. Required Skills & Required ExperienceRequired Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, or a related field.Proficient in geospatial data compilation, management, and processing.Proficient in a coding language (Python preferred).Extensive experience with ESRI software and web-based platforms, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Online.Experience with QGIS, GRASS, or other GIS platforms is preferred. Proficient in automating GIS tasks using ArcGIS extensions, Python-based tools (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas, or PyQGIS), and/or R. Experience with SQL or other relational database languages to query, manipulate, and effectively manage spatial and non-spatial data.Experience documenting scripts, workflows, methodologies for reproducibility, knowledge sharing, QA/QC, and collaboration.Ability to diagnose and resolve GIS and coding issues, particularly in automated workflows.Proficient in leveraging scripting and GIS tools for optimal results and enhanced production.Experience developing dynamic and automated mapping solutions to meet project requirements and improve visualization capabilities.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify custom automation opportunities to streamline geospatial workflows.Experience managing large datasets, both geospatial and non-geospatial, and developing metadata.Ability to create dynamic, automated mapping solutions tailored to changing project needs.Strong MS Excel and MS Access skills to leverage various data sources for GIS integration.Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical solutions to non-technical users and/or provide support on GIS automation tools.Desired Skills:
Previous internship experience preferred.Knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program is preferred.Certified Floodplain Manager is a strong plus.Knowledge of FEMA’s Mapping Information Platform tracking and reporting system is a plus.Knowledge of Environmental Regulations a plus.Knowledge of Flood Mitigation and other Grant Programs a plus.Knowledge of Watershed Planning a plus.Eager to learn new geospatial tools, techniques, and software.Innovation, enthusiasm, and creativity - ability to develop new ideas and to chart a path.Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks concurrently.
Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
