Geoscientist-in-Training, Hydrogeology

We are currently seeking a Geoscientist-in-Training to join our Hydrogeology Division to work out of our London office.

Supervise the drilling and installation of monitoring wells as well as logging soil samples; Completion of infiltration tests using the Guelph Permeameter and calculation of infiltration rates using the data collected; Completion of hydraulic conductivity testing on monitoring wells; Installation of piezometers in surface water features such as wetlands and creeks; Data analysis, including calculating hydraulic conductivity values, horizontal and vertical hydraulic gradients; Creation of hydrographs comparing groundwater levels and precipitation records; Contractor coordination; and Other related duties, as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Sciences, Water Resources Engineering (or equivalent), with course work specializing in hydrogeology, hydrology, or geology; 0-3 years of experience in a similar role (work term experience acceptable); Eligible to be registered as a Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with PGO; Previous related experience in the environmental consulting field considered an asset; Working knowledge of the Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act and other applicable federal and provincial acts, regulations, and guidelines; Experience collecting groundwater and surface water levels and/or samples; Experience completing hydraulic conductivity tests and estimating hydraulic conductivity; Experience mapping groundwater flow direction and calculating groundwater gradients (vertical and horizontal); Proficiency with software applications (i.e. MS Word and Excel); Experience with GIS and Aquifer Test an asset; Attention to detail; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong time management skills; Experience working in gravel pits and/or quarries an asset; Must be able to lift and/or carry equipment up to 50 to 60 lbs.; Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and safe work practices when working around heavy equipment and/or construction sites; Standard First Aid & CPR training considered an asset; Regular travel to project sites and extended time in the field is required year-round. Mileage for work related travel will be reimbursed; and Access to a reliable vehicle and valid G License is required for work-related travel.
