Job overview and responsibilities
Responsible for day to day operational, financial and personnel performance of assigned international outstation. Establishes or implements goals and standards to maintain and control operational integrity, service levels, costs, and safety requirements. This includes host government specific security checkpoint and baggage screening requirements in accordance with U.S. TSA security directives, mandates and GSC responsibilities. Monitors performance against plans and initiates corrective actions to improve results. Determines and justifies equipment, facilities, staffing, and training needs to achieve station operational goals. Participates as team member to headquarters support organizations, as well as other United operating departments in administering their responsibilities. Coordinates and provides functional guidance and supervision of contracted ground handling agents. Represents United Airlines for airport activities to host government federal, state, and local airport authority agencies along with TSA international field offices, U.S. aviation security representatives and FAA, and also aviation organizations such as ICAO, IATA , airline committees etc.. Support with other duties as required.
Responsible for day-to-day operational performance of assigned international outstationDirect the airport operational activities for all airport lines of service including customer service, ramp service, aircraft appearance and station control center/operations in a fully vendor and outsourced environmentDirects station activities to ensure superior customer service, which includes mainline and STAR Alliance partner airlinesOversee and direct operational safety and security; flight departure reliability; customer processing; plane-side operations including ramp operations and customer service; baggage handling; fueling; aircraft appearance and cabin provisioning, airport policies and procedures; on-ground product technology and equipment deployment; and vendor operationsEnsure all the security measures are correctly in place to comply with AOSSP and UA internal security requirementsEstablish and ensure consistent implementation of goals, plans and performance standards for customer service, operational performance, safety, financial performance, service providers engagement and security including GSC responsibilitiesResponsible for compliance with Stations controls and Internal Audit standardsResponsible for maintaining station facilities, equipment, and professional appearance standards for all United employeesResponsible for performance management and ongoing professional developmental support of direct reports and “dotted line” reportsManage vendor service contracts as requiredMaintain positive vendor relations and various airport management relations and ongoing exchange of information and ideasEnsure that corporate and divisional messages and initiatives are clearly communicated to vendor representativesProvide financial oversight for station level Airport Operations expenses – assuring targets are metManages the station budget, staffing forecasts and resource requirementsRepresent the company to local governmental agencies (Local airport authorities and works councils, CIQ and Airport Security etc.)Maintain strong working relationships with OAL / airport authorities / vendors / governmental authorities (FAA / TSA / CBP)/internal divisionsThis position is offered on local terms and conditions. QualificationsRequired
Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience3+ years of relevant management experience in Airport Services environment or equivalent experienceKnowledge of airport operations to include; hub operations, terminal / ramp operations and ATO, and related technology.Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced operational environment.Knowledge of station controls and Internal Audit standards.Analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance. Knowledge of operational Corporate policies and procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to develop and motivate personnel.Strong problem solving skills and drive for excellence.Knowledge of airport ATW IT systems (AERO, BART, MAP Device, SHARES, Volare)Must be flexible to work all shifts and, when necessary, available 7 days a week / 24 hours a day, including holidays and weekends, to deal with any operational and /or unforeseen situations.
