General Manager Full Time • Hybrid - US Benefits: + Bonus based on performance + Competitive salary + Flexible schedule + Opportunity for advancement + Paid time off + Training & development Overview: The General Manager position with British Swim School is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the swim school, marketing and increasing sales through enrollment while ensuring profitability, and exceptional customer service interactions. Priorities include ensuring the British Swim School program is delivered according to brand and safety standards, instructor team management, initial and ongoing training, effective engagement with the local community, as well as teaching lessons on occasion. This position will also require due diligence with tracking required certifications for instructors as well as continuing the employee's development and competency. This individual reports directly to the franchise owner and is eager to learn and grow as the organization scales. This is a full-time position targeting 40-50 hours/week. Here at British Swim School, we are more than just a fun, surface-level swim lesson provider. We invest in quality team members to teach our lessons with the mindset that we are two schools in one, a survival school first and a learn-to-swim school second. As a result, we can support our mission "to ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer”. Responsibilities: Operations + Class Scheduling: Effectively manage scheduling and staffing levels to meet business demands and class mix using Jackrabbit Software. + Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards, health codes, and employment law. + Facilities: Ensure ongoing maintenance, cleanliness, and brand standards, including the interior, exterior, pool, and pump room are maintained. Facilitate a relationship with our pool partners. + Safety: Promote a safety culture for our team, students, and parents by consistently executing the quality assurance and brand standards and responding accordingly. + Teach swim lessons as needed. + Attend all continued learning training sessions and BSS aquatics team calls. Business Acumen + Reporting: Leverage financial data and reporting to build and execute strategies to deliver the expected outcomes with revenue and profitability. + Labor Management: Effective use of labor to maximize utilization and class mix. + Budget Management: Monitor expenses while balancing the brand standards and financial outcomes. + Cost Control: Implement cost-saving measures without compromising the quality of the services or the brand. Employee + Hiring & Staffing: Manage recruitment, post jobs, interview, and oversee onboarding to integrate new employees while also effectively planning succession. + Training & Development: Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing education and development for all team members to enhance skills and stay current with standards. + Retention-Focused: Cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture that encourages staff retention through team building, recognition, and growth opportunities. + Culture of Performance: Provide employees with ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to foster continuous improvement and professional growth. Customer + Customer Satisfaction: Deliver top notch customer experience, leveraging Net Promotor Score (NPS) to measure effectiveness and adjust where needed. + Answer existing and new customer phone calls + Management of all new customer acquisition and existing customer retention including phone, online and in-person sales. + Customer Follow-Up: Manage all customer requests effectively and promptly, as well as feedback from social platforms. + Customer Reviews: Actively obtain customer feedback and reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and local landing pages to boost enrollment and SEO engagement. Marketing + Local Marketing: Develop and implement a local marketing strategy to promote the school’s programs and ensure continuous growth and community involvement. + Social Media Management: Create and manage social media posts on relevant platforms to encourage customer interaction, engagement, and enrollment. + Competitive Awareness: Maintain a competitive advantage in the community through competitive analysis, pricing research, and staying informed about new openings. + Community Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses to enhance community visibility and create cross-promotional opportunities. Job Type + Full-time + Pay: $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year (experience, location and volume impacts) + Weekdays, Weeknights and Weekends required + 40+ hours a week (typically 40 hours a week; seasonality can impact this) + Work Location: On-site Requirements + 3+ years of management experience leading teams (15+ employees) + High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, business administration, or a related field is preferred + 3+ Year so of combined Aquatics Experience (teaching, lifeguarding, swim coach, aquatics management, etc) preferred + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while being agile and taking initiative + Strong critical thinking skills and proactive approach to problem-solving + Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods + Previous experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and revenue growth + Lifeguard and Certified Pool Operator certifications are preferred + Ability to arrive and perform duties at multiple locations within the Greater Sugar Land Area + Must be able to pass background check and drug test and provide at least 2 professional references Benefits + Paid Training and Development + Competitive Salary + Bonus Opportunities + Flexible Hours + Free Swim Lessons for immediate family of employees + Career Growth and opportunity for advancement + Paid-Time Off Flexible work from home options available.
