General Maintenance Worker III, Division of Maintenance and Operations, 8hrs/12months, (Must have Class A CDL license) Ad Closes 1/21/25

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, performs semiskilled and skilled work in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Work in this class is characterized by general and varied construction or repair work involving knowledge of several maintenance areas such as general maintenance, carpentry, masonry. Workers lead less skilled personnel in crews and on specific work assignments. Designated positions operate several types of heavy vehicles with powered attachments. Instructions are received from a supervisor regarding work to be done but the employee is expected to use considerable discretion in determining proper work methods. Periodic inspections of completed work to determine quality of work done are made.

CERTIFICATE LICENSE:
Possession of a valid Maryland class A commercial driver's license, or equivalent.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of general maintenance and construction methods, tools, equipment, and materials. Working knowledge of the effective operation of such powered equipment as backhoes, trenchers, pressure washers and tractors. Ability to use and maintain the more common hand and power tools of the trades to which assigned. Ability to operate farm type tractors, trucks with a GVW in excess of 26,000 pounds, and other equipment necessary to perform the maintenance work to which assigned. Ability to organize and effectively supervise the work of a small crew of maintenance workers and laborers. Ability to move heavy objects. Skill in the safe operation of equipment and use of tools of the assigned maintenance work. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED diploma required. Experience in work which provides a broad background in general maintenance work and detailed knowledge in the area of assignment required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
