General Maintenance Technician - Old Faithful, Yellowstone National Park

There are a variety of positions at our parks and lodges that range from skilled technicians to skilled trades. We are hiring a year-round General Maintenance Technician for the Old Faithful area. Job Summary: The year-round General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on facilities and equipment. The role requires technical skills, the ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to work flexible hours when necessary. Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and employ the technical skills necessary for the safe operation, repair, maintenance, and seasonal opening/closing of Xanterra facilities, equipment, and assets. Perform, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs. Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner. Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment. Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a polite demeanor and professional appearance. Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights. Adhere to Xanterra’s sustainability program and all safety programs. Qualifications Must have advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Must be receptive to training and be able to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge. Must have basic computer skills. Must be flexible to adjust to new situations or changes in assignments or procedures. Must have a working knowledge of applicable OSHA and NFPA safety regulations and requirements, including the ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations which do not meet Code. Must be able to mentor and train less experienced Maintenance staff. Must have innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or perplexing issues. Physical Requirements include: May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with the applicable respiratory protection program regulations, including restrictions on the length and location of facial hair. May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces. Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft. Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment. Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
