General Engineering Intern (TEMP/contractor) - evergreen requisition (correspondence will be delayed)

The Intern will work with a mentor who will provide regular assessments and feedback.

 

Job dimensions

The Intern will gain hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing operations and processes. The intern will support ongoing projects, as well as participate in the development and implementation of new processes and technologies. At the end of the internship, the student will be required to present leaders with the projects they have managed through the summer.  Opportunities may exist for Engineering interns to focus more specifically on Process Safety.

 

Key Activities and responsibilities

Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and quality. (15%) Collaborate with production, maintenance, and safety teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant operations. (15%) Conduct research and analysis to evaluate new technologies and process improvements. (15%) Prepare reports and presentations on projects and process improvements. (15%) Assist engineering teams with project related needs. (15%) Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures. (15%) Other duties in support of manufacturing operations and processes as well as taking advantage of opportunities to enhance learning in field of engineering and professional development. (10%)

 

Context and environment

Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements. Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.) Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents. Understands and supports all of Arkema’s HESQ commitments both at a corporate and facility level. (e.g., Responsible Care, HES2Q Commitment, Corporate HES Policy)

 

Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Successfully completed at least 2 years of degree program Strong preference for 3.0 GPA or above
