We’re looking for a part-time general assignment reporter for broadcast and digital, who can excel in on-the-ground reporting in Philadelphia.
The deal candidates will have a minimum of 3+ years experience reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do:
Produce and record news segments for KYW NewsradioGather, write, record, edit and deliver news content including live coverage during breaking newsMaintain general knowledge of issues, policies, and newsmakers Write scripts and ad-lib material for stories and live shotsDevelop and research potential news storiesEnsure compliance with FCC regulations to protect the station’s licenseOther duties as required by management Qualifications

4-year degree in journalism, broadcasting or an adjacent field preferredMinimum of 3-years of reporting experience with a news organizationExperience in editing and packaging news sound and interviewsUnderstanding and experience reporting as a multimedia journalistExperience in a busy and fast-paced, 24/7 newsroomComfort with breaking news and meeting tight deadlinesProactivity and self-starting attitude a mustAbility to be nimble and pivot with the ebb and flow of the news cycleExcellent communication skillsExcellent interview skillsExcellent news judgmentKnowledge of the broadcast area of greater Philadelphia and station demographics a plusA valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of the applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
