Greycoat Lumley’s client are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Gardener for their small estate in Northumberland, which some have described as one of Northumberland's "hidden gems". 

 

The Gardener will have a broad base of plant knowledge, horticultural skills and qualifications. The ability and desire to work as a constructive team member is critical. 

The Principals are in part-time residence therefore it is essential that their Gardener is able to work on their own initiative taking into account the Principals’ vision and communicate well with them through the year. The Gardens are opened to the public once or twice a year. 

 

The grounds consist of a large woodland being managed to become an open woodland garden, a walled garden planted in the Edwardian manner, a long-standing wild flower meadow, a vegetable garden with large polytunnel for vegetables and propagation and a pond garden planted with many marginals.

 

The gardens have been renovated over the last 8 years and are now ready to be taken to the next level of development and planting. 

 

The other members of staff at the property include a Groundsman, 2 part time helpers in the garden and a Housekeeper/Chef. 

 

This is a wonderful opportunity for a well-trained gardener with good experience to live and work in a happy team surrounded by outstanding  landscape.

 

 

Accommodation:  A fully renovated Gate Lodge or in a delightful loft style 2 floor apartment in what were the C18th stables.  Both with 2 bedrooms – Council Tax and utility bills are not included in the package. Children and pets very welcome.

 

Start:  ASAP

Hours:  40 per week

 

Salary:  £25,000 to £30,000 GPA
