Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Carrying out anti-poaching patrols as directedMonitoring illegal activities, fire and water managementBeing involved in game capture and translocation of animalsCollecting data whilst in the field for patrol and other management activitiesCollecting information on illegal activities and submit such information for strategic planningAttending to problem animals and plant invasive speciesEnsuring that all offenders are brought to bookProviding information to members of the public on how to deal with animal/human conflictsInvolvement in tree impact assessments, aerial surveys and fixed-point photographyConducting regular wildlife census and monitoring population dynamicsAssisting in the maintenance of park infrastructure, including fences, roads, and water pointsParticipating in community outreach programmes to promote conservation awarenessProviding guided tours and educational talks to visitors when requiredAssisting in wildlife research projects and collaborating with scientific teamsMaintaining and operating field equipment, including vehicles, radios, and GPS devices

 

QualificationsBasic knowledge and understanding of the environment and behaviours of wild animalsAt least Certificate in Ordinary level of EducationPrior work experience in a similar role would be an added advantageAble to pass a basic health screening including physical examsExcellent physical fitness and stamina to conduct long patrols in challenging terrainProficiency in using GPS devices, radios, and other field equipmentValid driver's licence and experience driving 4x4 vehicles in off-road conditionsStrong observational skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a team and independently when requiredExcellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages would be beneficialBasic first aid certificationDemonstrated passion for wildlife conservation and environmental protectionAbility to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situationsWillingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
