Full Stack Developer

Vertu Motors, Gateshead

As a full-stack developer within Vertu Technology, you will be part of a dynamic and agile team that delivers cutting-edge solutions for the company's many digital platforms. You will be involved across the entire development cycle, from design and prototyping to testing and deployment.

The Vertu Technology team operate primarily from our head office location in Gateshead, but we have a mix of hybrid and remote workers across the team. Whilst we are prioritising hybrid working where possible, we are open to remote working if you are the right person for the role.

We are currently looking to fill 2 new roles:

Junior Full-Stack Developer - Base salary up to £38,000 depending on experience. Mid-to-Senior Full-Stack Developer - Base salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.

Essential Competencies: To succeed in either role, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

A deep understanding of how the internet works, from the client request to the server response, and most things in between. Experience translating technical specifications into features/products for web products that are available to large public markets. Carried out development activities at all steps of the software delivery lifecycle. Fluent in at least one programming language, ideally JavaScript or TypeScript. Know how to work with common frontend libraries and frameworks, ideally React / Redux.

Specialist Competencies: To successfully quality for the mid-to-senior role, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate these additional skills, experiences, and qualifications:

Comfortable working across the entire development stack, including frontend and backend. Experience designing and integrating APIs (REST, SOAP, OpenAPI). Experience working with SQL and NOSQL databases (any of MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis). Experience working in the cloud, ideally AWS though Azure is an asset. Computer science education or technical certifications/qualifications in any relevant technology mentioned in this posting. AWS and/or Terraform certification is an asset.

Desirable Competencies: Junior candidates should demonstrate at least one of the following competencies. Mid-to-senior candidates should demonstrate most these competencies:

Experience working with a wide range of programming languages, including Golang. Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform or familiarity with the AWS SDK. Experience in setting up build systems and CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitHub Actions or Dagger. Experience in unit and end-to-end testing, ideally Jest, Playwright. Experience with event based architecture, telephony providers like Twilio, and/or GraphQL.
