Who You Are

You are an experienced accounting professional with a deep understanding of financial reporting, client relationship management, and workflow optimization. You’re a self-starter who values autonomy and takes pride in delivering precise, meaningful work. Your technical skills are sharp—particularly in platforms like QuickBooks—and you're adept at navigating complex reconciliations, reporting processes, and client communications. You enjoy solving problems, streamlining operations, and contributing to a collaborative, high-integrity team.

What We Expect from You

As a Full-Charge Bookkeeper/Accountant, you are trusted to take full ownership of your work. We expect you to manage your client portfolio with minimal supervision, meet deadlines consistently, and communicate clearly both internally and externally. You’ll need to apply sound judgment in your day-to-day decisions, while remaining open to feedback and committed to continuous learning. Mastery is the goal—both in the technical aspects of your role and in the quality of service you provide to clients. We count on your ability to work independently, stay organized, and maintain a high standard across all your responsibilities.


Your Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, completing reconciliations, and managing client accounts from end to end. This includes maintaining clean, accurate records and ensuring that financial information is current and client-ready at all times. Although the scope of work will vary among the clients, you will ultimately oversee 35–40 clients. Your work will also include the preparation and filing of sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions, along with reviewing and entering accounts payable transactions to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Additionally, you will be responsible for low-volume payroll processing and are expected to be familiar with quarterly and year-end payroll filings.


You’ll serve as the go-to advisor for your assigned clients—building relationships based on trust, insight, and consistency. You’ll look beyond the numbers to identify opportunities for improvement and added value. Clear, timely, and accurate deliverables are a must, and your ability to align work with each client’s expectations and goals will be key to your success.


Requirements

We expect Full-Charge Bookkeepers/Accountants at Abacus to have a strong foundation in financial reporting, significant hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with a commitment to ethical, high-quality work. Familiarity with sales tax platforms, accounts payable workflows, client portals, and time tracking systems is a plus.  Additionally, candidates must have at least one year of experience successfully working in a remote environment.  Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to grow within our firm.
