Fuel Superintendent

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of a Fuel Superintendent to join the versatile Supply Chain team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for formulating and developing initiatives, strategies which will result in fostering optimal acquisition and utilization of resources needed site wise to ensure resource optimization and profitability maximization.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Fuel Supply Chain Management

Ensure that fuel is sourced and procured from suppliers timely and the price is optimized Manage fuel inventory, monitoring levels, and predicting demand. Coordinate fuel deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient receipt. Develop and implement fuel supply chain optimization strategies.

Fuel Operations and Maintenance

Oversee fuel storage, handling, and dispensing operations. Ensure fuel equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair. Implement fuel quality control measures. Manage fuel system upgrades and modifications.

Safety, Environment, and Compliance

Ensure compliance with mine site safety policies and procedures. Implement environmental protection measures for fuel storage and handling. Manage fuel-related regulatory compliance (e.g., tax, customs). Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Cost Control and Budgeting 

Develop and manage fuel budgets, forecasting consumption and costs. Analyze fuel consumption patterns and optimize usage. Identify cost-saving opportunities. Monitor and report fuel-related expenses.

Team Management and Training

Supervise fuel team members, providing guidance and support. Develop and implement training programs for fuel handlers. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback. Foster a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Other Duties

Collaborate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, operations). Participate in mine site meetings and committees. Develop and implement process improvements. Manage fuel-related projects and initiatives.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Logistics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in fuel management or logistics. Mining industry experience preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license
