Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Patient Services Coordinator is the initial point of contact with patients and is the clerical support person for the therapy office staff. This position is the liaison between clinic staff and patients and is responsible for being able to effectively and professionally communicate company policies procedures and insurance information. The position is responsible for following all compliance Medicare and HIPAA policies. This position performs a variety of reception and clerical duties including registration insurance verification and collection of co-pays within the Rehabilitation Services Department. This position may have access to third party credit card information and transactional systems (cash registers point of sales devices applications supporting credit card transactions and reports or other documents containing credit card information) from multiple transactions or reports and/or files containing bulk transactional information containing unencrypted or un-redacted credit card information and are required to comply with the Dignity Health credit card handling process. Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities seek guidance when in doubt promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation. When called upon the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program.Qualifications
Minimum:
Training or experience with word processing personal computers general office procedures and proper phone manners. Previous experience in a medical office customer service hospital and/or Outpatient Therapy department required including medical billing. Knowledge of general Rehab Services clerical procedures required (scheduling filing reception) knowledge of general medical terminology and general Rehab specific diagnoses and conditions preferred. Completes and maintains required unit specific training.Preferred:
Spanish speaking preferred.
