As a Front End Developer at CGI, you will work on the design, development and maintenance of web-based applications within an agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Key duties include:
- Building and maintaining responsive, high-performance front-end applications using modern frameworks
- Implementing UI/UX best practices to create engaging and accessible user interfaces
- Writing, testing, and maintaining front-end code using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Ensuring adherence to secure coding standards and accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1+)
- Collaborating with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data flow
- Maintaining and enhancing ASP.NET websites (C#)
- Working with composite UI design patterns
- Applying modern engineering practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD within an Azure DevOps environment
- Adhering to GDS standards, the technology code of practice and using Git version control systems
- Developing mobile-first and progressive web applications (PWAs)
- Designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Working with backend storage technologies such as SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Redis Cache, and Blob Storage
- Implementing security best practices, including IT Health Checks and penetration testing remediation
- Front End Development: Strong programming skills with experience in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, React, Vue.js or Angular
- UI/UX Design: Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility standards, and user experience best practices
- Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS, including serverless functions, storage and DevOps Pipelines
- Software Design: Understanding of modern web application architecture, performance optimisation and secure coding practices
- ASP.NET and C# Development: Experience developing and maintaining applications using ASP.NET, .NET Core and C#
- Backend Storage Technologies: Experience working with SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Redis Cache, and Blob Storage
- Version Control & CI/CD: Experience using Git, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions)
Desirable skills:
- Experience working in agile teams and digital service frameworks
- Knowledge of containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and automated deployments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various disciplines
