Front End Developer
Job Advert :

Clarks has been defining retail fashion for almost 200 years. Just because our brand has an amazing history, though, doesn’t mean we’re not looking to the future. We’re transforming into a smarter, better business and our ecommerce site is one of the main touchpoints where that change will be visible. Right now, we’re looking for a Frontend Developer whose HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills will build highly engaging content pages and general Digital content that will make for truly exceptional customer experiences.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a valued member of the Clarks eCommerce Development team you will code and publish consumer facing editorial content pages, brand collaboration experiences and banner components for our new Clarks eCommerce websites. Collaborating with Brand Creative Designers, UI Designers and Visual Merchandisers the components and pages you code will improve the capabilities of our website. You’ll enhance customer experiences and boost commercial performance at a brand with a global audience.

Using the latest best practices, you will make sure that we are maxing out performance so that we can always offer customers an unparalleled, Engaging, and swift journey to their purchases. And, by maintaining Accessibility, UX and SEO standards, you’ll make sure our sites (and your content) are always responsive and inclusive of everyone, through search engines and virtually any device our customers use (screen-readers, mobiles, tablets, larger screen devices).

Utilizing core Frontend code (HTML, CSS & JavaScript) and using the Handlebars templating language, you will craft timely, engaging trading content experiences; and in addition, develop A/B testing experiences whereby we test, learn and create/adapt new features.

Join us and you’ll be right where the action is at a global business where your work can have real, measurable impact.

What You’ll Bring

You will have hands-on experience of content management and publishing within a multi-disciplined ecommerce team. You’ll also be fluent in a range of development languages including HTML 5, CSS (3), Handlebars and JavaScript. When it comes to SEO, Accessibility, Frontend and content management best practices, you’ll be confident and insightful, and you’ll have an appetite for improving your knowledge by engaging with emerging tech.

Ideally you will have experience using Headless systems (such as Amplience) and using GIT for version management.

You will be keen to learn technologies within our stack, including Handlebars.

To play your part in our ongoing transformation into a smarter business, you’ll be flexible in your approach and able to act on your own initiative. You’ll also be great in a team—someone who’s always willing to get stuck in with problem solving, supports their colleagues and who will speak up when they can see a better way of working. Do that, and you’ll be in line for some great rewards here.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now. In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950 to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognisable signature – a unique combination of craftsmanship and innovation that make it unmistakably Clarks.
