About the Job
The position’s primary responsibilities will be supporting the sales and supply chain teams by providing financial insights and strategic recommendations. This position will be responsible for building strong business partner relationships with the sales and supply chain teams and partnering cross-functionally with other FP&A leaders, the accounting team, and the broader MLC organization. This role requires someone who is willing to develop a strong understanding of our company’s products, cost structure, and supply chain network and translate that knowledge into actionable financial insights and recommendations.
+ Primary FP&A business partner providing FP&A leadership to the sales and supply chain departments. Assists the sales and supply chain departments with analytical support to drive improved profitability.
+ Provide continuous tracking and insights of sales performance compared to budget and prior years. Provide financial analysis supporting the monthly sales, trucking division of MLC, and operations planning process within the organization.
+ Perform variance analysis to summarize price, volume, and mix variances to prior year and budgeted results. Provide clear and concise presentations to leadership to incorporate this analysis into financial commentaries, insights, and recommendations.
+ Collaborate with the FP&A leader overseeing data and business intelligence to develop and continuously improve a complex profitability model for MLC.
+ Evaluate revenue trends and the profitability model and provide timely and actionable insights to the sales and supply chain teams. Evaluate data to provide visibility into volume and pricing trends by market, customer, product, etc.
+ Track and analyze non-optimal shipments to customers and provide visibility to the sales and supply chain teams to optimize supply chain decisions.
+ Collaborate with the FP&A leaders overseeing operations to understand costs of production and provide actionable insights to the supply chain team on the total landed costs of our products.
Required Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field required. An MBA or a master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
+ Experience: At least five years of progressive experience in financial analysis and business decision support roles. Experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred.
+ Knowledge: Requires strong working knowledge of financial principles and processes and experience building financial models.
+ Skills: Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, technology utilization skills, and technical aptitude required.
+ Abilities: Organizes and manages multiple priorities simultaneously, communicates effectively in verbal and written format, collaborates, works effectively with leaders.
+ Business travel as needed, such as visits to MLC plant sites to develop a strong understanding of our operation.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of ERPs & FP&A systems preferred.
