Job Title: Histopathology TechnicianJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Histopathology Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform histological procedures, assist in the gross room, and prepare tissue samples for microscopic analysis and complex testing. This role requires the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and a commitment to maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Responsibilities + Perform histological procedures including specimen embedding, sectioning, and staining. + Assist in the gross room with accessioning, cassette, and slide labeling. + Work efficiently with minimal supervisory direction as needed. + Prepare tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis and further complex testing. + Maintain and operate laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures. + Demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs. + Investigate, document, communicate, and resolve needs, problems, or complaints. + Perform area-specific support and clinical activities. + Train other testing personnel. Essential Skills + Proficiency in histology and laboratory procedures. + High School Graduate or equivalent. + Preferred: 3 years of experience in a Histopathology Laboratory. + Preferred: License/Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) or eligibility for either certification. + Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and information systems. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Understanding of regulatory compliance and HIPAA. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Visual ability to distinguish colors for analysis. + Auditory ability to hear timers on equipment. + Manual dexterity to operate equipment, manipulate, and pipette specimens. Work Environment The work environment is primarily laboratory-based with some time spent in the office writing up experiments, validation documents, and standard operating procedures. It is important to follow all safety and compliance protocols while operating laboratory equipment and handling specimens. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
