A day in the life…

As a Forklift Operator you will transport materials to the work areas and move finished products to storage areas using a forklift. You are responsible for placing pallet tops, banding and shrink-wrapping skids of material, and moving trash bales and loading trash trailer. You will use scanning equipment for inventory movement and placement in proper locations, while ensuring proper counts are entered into the system. You will assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed and may be assigned other jobs by plant management as required.

2nd shift hours: M-Thurs 3:00 pm-1:30 am

What you will be doing…

Operate forklift and follow required safety checks and maintenance schedule. Transport materials to the work areas and move finished products to shipping area or storage area. Return all unused materials issued for production orders from the floor back to proper storage.  Maintain an accurate count of amount being returned. Responsible for placing pallet tops, banding and shrink-wrapping skids of material. Moving trash bales and loading trash trailer. Verify quantity on pallet tickets. Use scanning equipment for inventory movement and placement in proper locations.  Ensure proper counts are entered into the system. Keep material staging area organized and clean. Assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed. May be assigned other duties by the supervisor as required.  

 

Do you have what it takes? 

(Basic Qualifications)

At least 18 years of age. Ability to constantly, stand, walk, and reach above shoulder level to complete tasks. Must be able to drive a forklift. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Basic math skills. Ability to read and write in English.

Previous warehouse or distribution experience. Experience using an RF scanner. Computer skills. Team player.

Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily. Surroundings. You’ll be working around different machines – Schubert’s, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels. Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs. Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63°F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role. Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas and you may end your day smelling like chocolate! Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required. Leather, imitation leather, or rubber boots or shoes must be worn in the kitchen and other areas when working around hot liquid/product or hot water.
