Position Overview:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently and safely operating all powered and non-powered material handling equipment. This position entails performing various warehouse functions, including shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
Utilize RF Equipment: Accurately process inbound (receiving), outbound (shipping), and internal orders using RF equipment.
Transaction Accuracy: Ensure transactions are accurate in item and quantity, and processed accordingly.
Inventory Management: Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy through Quality Assurance inspections as needed.
Cross-Training: Provide backup support for job functions within other departments with appropriate cross-training.
Stock Consolidation: Improve inventory production performance and maximize warehouse space through stock consolidation.
Quality Control: Ensure all outbound freight is correct in items and quantities, and inspect for any damage.
Proper Palletizing and Loading: Ensure shipments are palletized and loaded to prevent damage during transit.
Freight Loading: Load products onto LTL, TL trailers, and vans.
Inbound Freight Inspection: Inspect all inbound freight for quantity and damage, completing appropriate documentation including carriers' BOL.
Standard Work Instructions: Adhere to all department Standard Work Instructions.
Equipment Inspection: Complete daily forklift inspections, ensure proper operation, and report any needed repairs.
C-TPAT Compliance: Perform C-TPAT compliance inspections and documentation for all inbound and outbound international shipments.
Warehouse Security: Maintain operational and security standards per C-TPAT policy.
General Duties: Assist in other duties as assigned, including onboarding new employees.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Certifications):
High school diploma or equivalent education (preferred). Previous forklift certification for Reach, Dock stocker, or Sit-down forklift. Experience with RF scanners. Excellent math, reading comprehension skills, and legible handwriting. Minimum of three years of warehouse experience, including one year of stand-up forklift experience. Physical capability to perform tasks, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 100 lbs.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to follow directions and complete work within established timelines. Strong team player who can work and interact with co-workers. High attention to detail to prevent injuries and property damage, promoting a safe work environment. Effective multi-tasking ability.Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Physical capability to perform tasks requiring walking, standing, bending, reaching, and safely lifting up to 100 lbs for extended periods. Typical warehouse environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
