Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Forest Research Specialist Posting Summary Coordinate and implement advanced research, technical work, and complex data analysis related to forest management for multiple values and outcomes, including work in the fields of silviculture, forest ecology, and sugarbush management. Supervise undergraduate student employees. Oversee laboratories, equipment, and field studies associated with the D’Amato Lab. Plan and lead field work, research synthesis, and outreach examining best practices for balancing multiple forest benefits. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) - Master’s degree or B.S plus multiple years of research experience. - Minimum of two years experience with forest ecological data collection, including forest regeneration and understory plant communities. -VT Foresters License or ability to attain licensure at the time of appointment - Experience with programming in R to manage large datasets. -Experience with data management and curation. -Experience coordinating and communicating with diverse stakeholders. -Experience with general aspects of forest management and silviculture. -Experience with leading field crews and coordinating tasks and work assignments. -Experience developing forest management plans -Strong written and oral communication skills. - Driver’s license or ability to obtain at time of appointment.
