Company Description

The Foreman Electrical UG is a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and is responsible for the supervision of artisans in the maintenance and installation of electrical equipment and services. It includes the administration and management of assigned resources within the designated area towards effective operation of the Operational Unit. Work according to regulations and all laws relevant to the tasks.

Job Description

Your day-to-day duties will include:

Ensures use of proper procedure and required safety devices for all hazardous tasksImplements and maintains applicable Safety, Regulations, The Act, Codes of practice and standardsEnsure that all appropriate work specifications, procedures and legal requirements are applied to the use of equipment, machinery and related safety devicesPerform periodic and scheduled inspections of task and equipment as stipulatedLiaises with the engineering team and other role players regarding daily, weekly and monthly needs in the areaPlans daily, weekly and monthly work requirement and priorities with operational teamEnsures availability of required parts, equipment and resourcesMonitors the performance of teamPlan and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly work requirements and priorities with operational team (planned work and shut downs)Allocate labour resources and equipment to scheduled and priority activities so as to maintain and ensure high levels of labour, equipment and operational performance standardsEnsure availability for after-hours standby dutiesAllocate multi-task team members to Artisans when required to perform and ensure effective maintenanceApproved monthly budget expenditureSetting daily, weekly and monthly technical targetsInterpretations of the legal standardsShutting down the section if necessary for maintenanceDetermining work prioritiesCalling out specialist expertise when problems occurChanging plans and schedules on the shift to minimize the effect of unexpected problemsStopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafeAgreeing on employees’ leave and overtimeIdentifying employees suitable for further trainingDisciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures

This is a C5 role and will report to the Section Engineer

QualificationsGrade 12 with Mathematics and ScienceQualified as an ElectricianForeman CertificateMedium Voltage CompetencyWinder Competency

Experience

Five years post trade experience with winders, chairlifts and fans.2 years supervisory experience in a Foreman role (advantageous)Deep level mining underground experience

Knowledge and Skills

Valid driving license code 08Computer literacy (Word/Excel/Outlook/SAP R3)
