The mission of the SAS Food Service Department is to support SAS and its employees by offering safe, high-quality food and service, while providing great hospitality.
The Facilities team is looking for a Food Service Technician who is well skilled, and a creative culinarian with versatile talents. This individual will prepare entrees and side items for lunch in the Overlook Café, as well as assist with salad bar preparation and front-of-house service. The Overlook Café is a full-service restaurant in Building T on the campus of SAS Institute.
As a Food Service Technician, you will:
Works independently or with little help from supervisors in the preparation of items for the Terrace Café’s lunch services. These assignments may be moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
May assist in planning menus and adding items to the SAS Food Services menu planner as necessary.
Serve food on the entrée line as necessary.
Entrée, starch, vegetable preparation.
Follows all health and safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the café.
Store all foods in an order fashion in the proper environment.
Operates and maintains food service equipment. Reports repairs and maintenance needs. Completes maintenance requests.
Utilizes computer to stay informed about company news and policies
Assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed.
May be required to drive company vehicle.
Required Qualifications
2 years of experience with food preparation in area of responsibility. Food service administrative experience preferred.Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, Foodservice, or related fieldEquivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.Through knowledge of operation of quantity food service equipment such as mixer, dish machine, oven, slicer, food processor and cooking principles.
Ability to work in hot kitchen or with hot water; ability to stand at work table or serving line up to seven hours per day.
Advanced food preparation skills, first rate knife skills, cooking at correct temperature, and presenting finished dish in an attractive manner.You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to learn computer applications specific to departmental needs. Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.Good organizational skills.
