Food Safety Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Location: Plymouth, IN

 

Summary:

Responsible for all quality components and standards within the facility. This includes facilitating and standardizing all quality processes such as raw material verification, in-process quality inspection, formula validation, quality assurance, etc. The position will be responsible for Quality Control Personnel across four shifts and lead improvement initiatives in all quality-related aspects.

 

In addition, the Inventory Food Safety Quality Assurance Supervisor:

Lead improvement of the current quality assurance process. This includes the quality systems review process (QRS), Standard operating procedures (SOPs), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, addressing field complaints, and developing Standard work instructions. Lead improvement initiatives in all aspects related to quality. This includes the food defense systems review process, standard operating procedures (SOPs), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, addressing complaints, and developing standardized work instructions. Support departmental goals and execute improvement initiatives to achieve said goals that align with current business objectives. Supporting Organic and Gluten Free Certifications related to reviewing and filing all daily paperwork. Supervise completion and delivery of all COAs for finished products per customer specifications. Responsible for the finished product evaluation system and provided leadership to drive improvements in key customer attributes related to Quality. Oversee Pre-Requisite Programs for Quality. Train personnel and maintain all training records on critical quality requirements. Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified. Oversees monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet the facilities Quality Plans. Provides guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred Back up to site SQF Practitioner. Establish departmental goals and execute improvement initiatives to achieve said goals that align with current business objectives. Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been. Responsible for developing, training, and maintaining all SOPs. This position shall take appropriate actions to ensure the integrity and management of all activities and coordinate all the information for the SQF system.

 

Skills and Experience:

Proven leadership skills and the ability to improve the cohesion of the quality department with other areas. Ability to initiate and implement improvements with limited resources. Ability to analyze the process for Biological, Chemical, and Physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process. Knowledge and thorough understanding of industry best practices related to Quality. Good problem-solving skills and corrective action/resolution skills. Experience with Corrective Action Systems. Excellent organizational skills. Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

 

Preferred Skills:

SQF Practitioner H ACCP Certified PCQI Experience with Lean/ six sigma Working Knowledge of SPC Experience with ERP implementation and integration of current quality processes

 

Minimum Requirements and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, related field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of food processing experience. 1-3 years in a Quality supervision role with similar responsibilities.
