Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager to oversee our Quality Assurance (QA) team and ensure that our food safety and quality standards are met throughout every step of the production process. This role involves developing and implementing quality assurance policies, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and continuously improving QA programs and procedures.
ResponsibilitiesManage the activities of the QA staff, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to throughout every step of the production process.Review, develop, and analyze product attributes to establish quality specifications for finished goods.Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.Manage current quality and food safety inspection programs and procedures consistent with federal and state regulations and customer specifications.Instruct plant personnel on quality assurance and food safety procedures.Coordinate with plant management to meet customer requirements, optimize product consistency, and minimize costs.Ensure inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle.Manage quality control training programs for key personnel.Ensure compliance with cGMP, SOP, SSOP, and Food Safety standards via HAACP and SQF.Review and update programs as needed.Investigate and respond to customer complaints regarding quality and food safety.Stay updated on industry innovations and new methodologies for continuous improvement of QA programs and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills5+ years of related experience in the juice or beverage industry.Experience in Food Safety and Quality Control, including interactions with customers, third-party quality systems auditors, and regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA, municipal wastewater).Sound knowledge of cGMP, product regulations, Food Safety/HACCP, and SSOP/Sanitation standards.Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in ensuring product quality.Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills based on scientific knowledge.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in wet chemistry, titration, and analytical chemistry.Familiarity with batch records and quality assurance processes.Background in chemistry, biology, or food science.Work Environment
This position operates in both lab and manufacturing environments. The work will involve handling various technologies and equipment used in citrus processing and packaging. The role requires adherence to safety standards and may involve working shifts to ensure continuous quality control.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00
