Food Runner

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

This position is seasonal beginning in May

General Purpose:

Assists servers in providing efficient service by keeping the room neat and clean.

Essential Duties:

Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture values and mission of The Club at ArrowCreek. Develops positive relationships with shift team by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs and concerns. Food Runners will need to possess a high degree of organizational skills to easily locate tables/bar, to ensure guests’ receive the correct orders. Food Runner’s will need to have excellent communication, and listening skills to ensure clear we meet guests’ requests. Food Runners must practice and demonstrates Food Safe handling and practices. Assures that all material used by server, is clean and ready for daily operations. Possesses knowledge of the position of each guests’ chair in the dining rooms and lounges. Sets the outside expo line with under bread and butter (B&B) plates, roll-ups, plastic flatware, linen napkins, and any other items needed for the delivering of food. Organizes the plates in the window and matches each one with each ticket to run the food out to the tables. Sets tables in accordance with The Club at ArrowCreek standards. Ensures that each menu item is prepared in the exact detail outlined on each ticket. Corrects menu items with the chef if it is not meeting the exact specification on the ticket. (For example; are the steaks prepared to the temperature modified on the ticket? Does the hamburger come with pickles, only as specified on the ticket?) Fills and re-fills water glasses, ice tea, etc., as well as removing any place settings not being used. Clears dishes located in front of guest upon completion of course. . (Always ask if you “may clear their dishes” prior to removal). Clears and resets tables when guests leave, to include but not limited to: changes tablecloth, sanitize chairs, places chairs at table, replaces silverware, glassware, and replaces all napkins. Assists the server as needed. Keeps work stations cleaned, and well stocked of needed items. Clean workstations, tables, trash, and whatever the business needs. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must obtain any required local and state licenses or certifications.

Environment/Noise:

Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); may come into contact with fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is moderate.

No certifications or licenses required.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Assigned including work in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload.

Experience /Background/ Knowledge

Knowledge of dining room operations required.

Skills

Ability to communicate effectively with managers, guests and employees both verbally and in writing. Must be able to perform basic math computations.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, and crouch; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
