Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Scope & Purpose of Position: Work with supervisors to coordinate aspects of the food pantry following established policies and procedures. Ensure work areas are neat and within fire safety and health department requirements.
Responsibilities Adhere to policies and procedures of The Salvation Army, the State of Connecticut, and any other entity governing the distribution of food items.As requested, participate in training, seminars, workshops, and other educational opportunities to enhance the skills related to this position.Assist in maintaining the social services office, including typing, filing, mailing preparation, ordering supplies, etc.Assist with various social services programs, activities, and services, including seasonal programs.Complete documentation timely and accurately. Coordinate aspects of the food pantry following established policies, including ordering food, completing and maintaining the appropriate paperwork, and submitting monthly statistics.Demonstrate respect and professionalism with clients, staff, community representatives, and volunteers.Maintain a clean, orderly work area and keep confidential information secure.Maintain confidentiality in all job-related matters.Order food and related items to stock the food pantry adequately. Perform necessary errands to acquire food as needed.Receive food when delivered, check deliveries for accuracy, and give invoices to the Corps Officer(s). Refer clients seeking spiritual guidance to the Corps Officers.Store food neatly upon delivery. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Work experience in social services or a related field preferred.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record highly required.Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize responsibilities, multitask, and function independently.Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; proficient in spoken and written English.Demonstrate ability to engage with diverse populations.Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with all matters.Detail-oriented with keen attention to accuracy.Excellent time management skills. High energy level and solid work ethic.Must complete the KeepSAfe training and other required training upon hire.Must embrace, support, and reflect well on The Salvation Army’s mission and values.Strong customer service skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Works well in a team atmosphere.Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
