Description: **ABOUT THE ROLE** Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Operator to support our plant operations in Severn, MD and surrounding areas.This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and operateing machinery and equipment in an industrial plant, ensuring it functions efficiently and safely. They are responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and sometimes repairing equipment, as well as adhering to safety protocols and regulations. This position typically works from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Overtime will be required and shift times may be adjusted for business needs. **WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING** + Monitor and control plant operations, including the operation of equipment, machinery, and systems to ensure efficient and safe performance. + Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, identifying mechanical issues and troubleshooting as needed. + Assist with or perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to pumps, conveyors, motors, and other plant systems. + Conduct daily equipment checks, including lubrication, temperature, and pressure readings. + Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to diagnose and repair mechanical issues. + Maintain logs of plant performance, equipment maintenance, and repairs. + Support preventative maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime. + Operate heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, forklifts) as needed for material handling and maintenance support. + Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and environmental regulations. + Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on equipment upgrades or installations. + Participate in emergency response activities, including equipment shutdowns and lockout/tagout procedures. **WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR** + High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training is a plus. + Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in equipment operation and basic repairs. + Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial setting. + Heavy Equipment Experiience is a plus + Familiarity with plant systems such as pumps, conveyors, motors, and valves. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. + Strong understanding of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE, and hazard communication. + Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and troubleshooting techniques. + Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. + Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions. + Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team. + Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
