Leidos’ Defense Systems Sector’s Missile & Aviation Systems Division is seeking a Flight Systems Department Manager to join our team! This is an onsite position located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Responsibilities:

Serve as Department Manager within the Missile & Aviation Systems Division and work directly with the Division Manager and other leaders from the Department & larger Division to ensure the responsibilities of the Department are being met.

Maintain awareness of key issues within the Department and make decisions to further the mission of the Department/Division.

Overseeing hiring/recruiting and managing staffing across three Branches with different technical goals, retaining key personnel.

Supporting business development & strategic goal planning within the Division and working with the Division Manager/Staff to ensure communication and alignment of business & technical goals.

Will also have a general understanding of the technical work performed by the three Branches within the Department, so the ideal candidate will have experience in flight hardware development & testing, aerospace-related modeling & simulation (M&S), and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) applications for these areas.

Responsible for overseeing the Department’s Senior Staff, ensuring consistent tasking in accordance with their level of technical expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited institution and 12+ years’ experience in engineering/management; or a Master’s degree and 10+ years’ experience.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including demonstrated ability to manage risk while gaining the confidence of customers, technical staff, managers and peers.

Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

US Citizen with an active Secret level clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an active/final TS/SCI Clearance. An active TS/SCI clearance is preferred, but not required to be considered for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience/exposure to either military or intelligence areas to further develop/maintain relationships with existing and future customers.

Candidates with a MS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

Active TS/SCI Clearance.

Given the importance of being able to keep track of all aspects of the work conducted within the Department, a TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph are an asset.

Pay Range:Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
