Given the nature of the project based Flexible Work, our staff must quickly assimilate and develop understanding of services needed, and goals.
Expected locations: Cape Cod, MA; Providence, RI; New Bedford, MA; New Hampshire
Job Objective:
Performs construction inspections of moderate complexity by evaluating the condition of the structure. Documents inspection findings and communicates issues to project leadership. Applies broad professional knowledge of construction practices to serve client needs. Communicates with professionals from a variety of functional backgrounds to provide project progress status and updates. Work is performed independently under limited supervision.

Job Duties:
• Performs oversight of construction personnel working on large-sized assigned area of the construction site or the full project for smaller projects.
• Ensures construction work put in place matches construction plans.
• Identifies deficiencies in constructed structures.
• Reviews contract terms and conditions.
• Ensures construction timelines, costs, and materials are in compliance with contract terms and conditions.
• Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
• Reviews the work of more junior staff.
• Prepares related reports (ex: monthly progress reports, etc.). Maintains daily report of construction activities.
• Communicates construction issues to project leadership. Escalates issues to appropriate design staff for resolution.
• Communicates issue resolution to appropriate construction staff and closes the loop with project leadership when documented issues are resolved.
• Under general supervision, performs construction inspections of basic to high complexity.
• Observe sewer pipeline installations.
• Upon discovery of deficiencies or issues with construction work, provides reports to project leadership.
• Inspects pipes and/or other structures (buildings, roads, dams, bridges, etc.) to ascertain structural soundness, safety, and compliance with code and regulations.
• Documents inspection results inclusive of deterioration, structural condition, deficiencies between design and execution of construction and any needed sampling.
• Monitors progress and contributes to construction reports and/or project status reports.
• Conducts on site investigations and reviews relevant data including maps, reports, tests, drawings and other as required.
• Complies with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc. and delivers technical files and other technical documentation as required.

• At least 5 years of relevant construction experience.

**Skills and Abilities:**
• Able to pass employer and client background check as required.

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer, smartphone or related applications and programs.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction.
• Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year in various weather conditions.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Able to work on your feet for 8+ hours and conduct numerous waterlines inspections per day.

• Demonstrates technical proficiency and design application knowledge.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the construction process for large commercial, municipal or federal projects.

**Background Check and Drug Testing Information:**

**Additional Compensation:**
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
