PurposeTechnology Resources provides services to over 110 departments and 5,000 systems across our fleet. The Fleet Manager will act as a representative on campus committees, participate in technical working groups, and maintain good working relationships with campus IT staff members. The Fleet Manager will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our systems by utilizing standard campus endpoint management tools including CM and JAMF for deploying and updating the OS and third-party applications.
ResponsibilitiesManage a team of IT staff to ensure processes are being followed and the workload is distributed and handled appropriately. Manage performance and internal issues relating to management of staff, including performance evaluations, time off requests, personnel issues, etc. Oversee development and training of staff members to encourage growth and maintain positive morale.Manage and maintain the desktops and other devices across Windows, macOS, iOS, and possibly future Linux devices. Perform system patching, OS level updates, packaging and deploying software when needed. Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, AppleScript, etc.). Develop and maintain documentation including change management.Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices, UT policy, and ISO guidelines for our fleet. Conduct permissions audits, application audits, and GPO validation to enforce access control policies. Apply system hardening guidelines to all devices in accordance with ISO and UT policies. Work with management to review scorecards and provide insight or solutions to remediate.Maintain imaging application to ensure patch compliance. May assist with server administration regarding patching and CM management. Oversee Deployment Center to ensure staff are performing as needed and to ensure latest hardware specifications are included in any updates for any new devices being deployed. Oversee Depot and International Loaner Program.Required Qualifications5+ years’ experience in Active Directory, Group Policy, endpoint management platforms (JAMF/CM), networking protocols, and system monitoring tools.Familiarity with University or education environments.Experience with scripting, server management, VMs, and common used tools used in maintaining an enterprise infrastructure.Experience with desktop support or server administration.Excellent communication and writing skills, problem solving, and some project management skills.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsAt least 7 years of experience in AD, GPOs, CM, or JAMF.Experience with UT Austin environment.Experience with deploying, maintaining, and updating devices within an enterprise environment.Experience with software distribution or licensing.Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range$80,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsHybrid. This position will eventually work 3 days from home and 2 days in the office. Flexible work arrangements and some telework are available for this position. A typical 8-hour flexible schedule should occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central Time.
