As the Fleet Mechanic, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for maintaining and repairing the fleet of vessels owned by a seafood processing plant. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, conducting safety inspections, and troubleshooting breakdowns. As the Fleet Mechanic you must have a strong understanding of marine engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components. Additionally, you will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure the fleet's optimal performance and reliability.
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency roadside repair in a safe, efficient, and quality manner. Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify problems. Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to Manufacturer’s specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems. Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format, follow parts ordering/billing procedures. Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs. Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean and washed after repair is completed. Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit. Perform DOT inspections. Perform preventive maintenance on trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs. Perform preventive maintenance on off-road equipment such as lubrications, adjustments, cutting tip replacements, and safety inspections. Examine vehicle to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed. Inspect, maintain and repair aerial lift equipment to maintain the safety and reliability of the unit. Visually inspect structural integrity of aerial lift equipment and report any deficiencies so that they may be corrected. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to aerial devices in accordance with manufacturers and ANSI guidelines and in a timely manner to maximize the life and productivity of the equipment. Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment. Fabricate parts as required including any design work needed. Inspect for cracks or damage to assess needed repair. Fabricate parts as needed to complete repair including any design work. Perform welding repair to manufacturer’s guidelines. Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.Competencies

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is preferred. HD truck technical training or 2+ years related experience. Previous seafood or manufacturing industry experience is preferred. Current and valid commercial driver’s license and DOT Certification required.Work Environment and Schedule
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.

While performing the essential function and job duties associated with the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
