The Fixed Assets Staff Accountant is responsible for the administration of various capital expenditure and lease accounting functions under the direction of the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) and has strong mathematical and analytical skills. Previous experience working with Viewpoint, SAGE Fixed Assets, LeaseQuery, and/or Acumatica is a plus. Will need to be a critical thinker who can prioritize time and tasks to meet deadlines, has strong integrity, is organized, pays attention to detail and works well independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities is a must.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred. At minimum, Associate’s degree in Accounting/Finance field is required.
Experience: 1 – 3 years of experience in fixed asset and/or lease accounting is preferred. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or audit experience is preferred.
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Overtime may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains records, tracks, tags fixed assets, including acquisition cost, depreciation, disposal, and other relevant information.Participates in periodic reviews of fixed assets to make sure that the asset is still in use and not been transferred, impaired or disposed.Sets up, communicates, and monitors capital expenditure spend for internally created assets.Works with tax department to ensure accurate sales and use tax compliance for owned assets.Runs various fixed asset reports for Finance/Tax department as needed.Works with building and grounds department to ensure accurate lease reporting under ASC 842.Performs LeaseQuery monthly tasks, adds/terminates leases, calculates monthly Right of Use Asset (ROU) asset & liability balances, communicates financial impact.Works with Financial Planning and Analysis department to ensure accurate forecasting & budgeting.Assists with inventory accounting, to ensure that inventory levels are accurate, inventory is properly accounted for, and that the inventory reserve is appropriate.Prepares monthly journal entries.Reconciles various asset/liability general ledger accounts.Continuous process improvement of current duties.Performs other related duties as required and assigned.The job description and responsibilities described are intended to provide guidelines for job expectations and the employee's ability to perform the position described.
