Firewall Engineer

This company is seeking intelligent and creative individuals who are eager to contribute to their unique growth in the market. This position will be 2 days on site their Washington D.C. or Manassas, VA office.

What You Will Be Doing: Manage firewalls, including upgrades, policy administration, and validation. Possess knowledge of multiple firewall types: Check Point and Palo Alto. Review and implement changes in line with existing firewall policies. Update and maintain documentation to ensure it aligns with current procedures. Manage and optimize other hardware and software, such as IDS/IPS, URL Filtering, Application Control, Antivirus, and Advanced Malware Detection. Be available to work outside regular business hours to support outage resolution, planned maintenance, or upgrades. Required Skills & Experience: Over five years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. More than four years of experience configuring and administering carrier-class firewalls, such as Check Point and Palo Alto. In-depth understanding of security operations, including firewall rules and security policies. Strong networking skills and knowledge of firewall platforms to facilitate quick identification and resolution of issues during incidents and outages. Proficiency in packet capture analysis and troubleshooting traffic and latency issues across all OSI layers. Excellent customer service skills, with consistent updates provided to leads and management on assigned tasks. External drive for proficiency: a strong motivation to excel in consulting, IT, cybersecurity, and industry best practices. Clerance Requirement: Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information.
