DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern in Denver, CO. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated student with responsibilities including design and documentation for a broad range of project types. The intern will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers.

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to, the following activities:

Complete fire protection system designs for sprinkler, fire pump, fire alarm and mass notification systems Assist senior staff with project completion Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and fire pump design Analyze life safety requirements for buildings, including building code compliance, occupant load calculations and egress analysis Perform on-site system evaluations and assist with final system testing Summarize submittals and contractor Requests for Information for review Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Sophomore, Junior or Senior year pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field  Have an understanding of fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, clean agent systems, high expansion foam systems, fire alarm and mass notification systems, preferred AutoCAD and Revit experience are preferred

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $18.00-24.00 per hour.  This is dependent on experience and academic level.
