Fire Equipment Technician *** Qatar ***

As the Fire Equipment Technician, you will test, inspect, repair, maintain and keep clean self-contained breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Units, Halon Service, Air Monitors, Fire Hose/ Nozzle/ Appliance, Fire Apparatus, Small Engine Repair, Ladder, Compressors, SCBA Cylinders, A-Level & B-Level Suites, J-Fire Masks and Hurst/Holmatro Hydraulic Tools.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Hurst and Holmatro Hydraulic Rescue Tools:  Service, clean, test, and check all functions, valves, pressure relief valves, hydraulic pumps, prime movers (gas, diesel or electric) for wear/damage; and service and pressure test before returning to service.

·         Cylinders: Perform inspections, testing, maintenance and recertification (Hydrostatic Test) of all components of MSA Air Carts including batteries, full electronic testing of pressure sensitive alarms, all cylinders are visually inspected, repair outer jackets if found to be damaged, pressure gauges are test and refilled (glycol) if needed, all valves are operationally tested and serviced if worn.

·         Compressors: Inspect, test, and perform maintenance of SCBA compressors and refill stations, storage trailers and gas boosters or decanting systems.  Service motor/engines, purification/drying systems, controls, air/gas storage systems, charging stations, and air monitoring equipment.

·         A-Level and B-Level Suits & J-Fire Masks. Conduct visual inspections, testing, perform preventative maintenance and cleaning for the J-Fire CW Mask.  Inspect, service, test, and re-certify all level A and Level B suits.

·         Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA):  Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and recertification of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and Mine Safety Appliance (MSA) units

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·         HS Diploma or equivalent is required, with 5 years’ related experience with Fire/Rescue Equipment Maintenance preferred.

·         Trained and experienced to operate halon recovery and recycle system preferred.

·         Trained and experienced to repair high pressure air compressors as required by the manufacturer preferred.

 

LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS: (WILL BE OBTAINED)

·         HURST Rescue Equipment Certificate of Competency to Inspect.

·         MSA Level “A” certified to perform training class.

·         United States Department of Transportation (DOT) certified to hydro test compressed gas cylinders/tanks.

·         Certified in MSA R.I.TE. and MultiRAE Air Monitors Detectors.

·         Bauer level 1 and 2 Certification.

·         MSA M7 Responder Level “B” certified to perform SCBA maintenance.  

·         HOLMATRO Rescue Equipment Certificate of Competency to Inspect.

·         NFPA 1071 certified or equivalent.

·         NFPA 10 Certified.

·         NFPA 1932 Certified.

·         HazMat Certificate of Competency to Inspect.

        

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

·        Knowledgeable in Principles of Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), ladder, hose, structural and/or ARFF testing.

·        Must have knowledge in National Fire Protection Agency regulations and standards.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Valid Driver’s License and be able to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission.

·         Possess a valid U.S. Passport.

·         Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD SEVENTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY

·         Able to obtain and maintain a valid Driver’s License and Residency Visa for Qatar

·         Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

·         Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

·         Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

·         Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operation procedure and practices. 

 

TRAVEL:   Deployed to Qatar, will travel to multiple locations.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  Active DoD SECRET clearance
