FinOps DevOps Engineer
We are part of the Cloud Platform Services department. The Cloud FinOps Team is responsible for managing several hundred millions dollars budget related to Cloud Platform Services. You will be part of an exciting and dynamic team that is trail blazing Cloud technologies at Ford. Our mission is to provide transparency to all Cloud billing to all levels at Ford which would help in ensuring that we get value for our cloud spend. One of our main strategic objectives this year is to develop processes, tools and expertise for Cloud Cost optimization and waste elimination. The position is a DevOps and an analyst role that requires to do both front and back-end development work related to Cloud FinOps. This role also entails performing data analysis and provide insights on cloud consumption and highlight opportunities to eliminate waste. + Design and Develop Looker dashboards to enable cloud cost transparency + Design and Develop APIs, to ingest and harmonize cloud consumption data from several disparate sources + Perform cloud consumption data analysis and provide insights on cost savings + Utilize advanced Excel skills and data visualization tools to model cloud usage and create forecasts. + Write complex SQL queries to extract and analyze billing data from GCP BigQuery datasets. + Work closely with engineering and operations teams to implement tagging and cost allocation strategies for better cost visibility. + Provide expertise in GCP cost management tools, such as Cost Management reports, Budgets, and Pricing Calculator. + Advocate for cloud financial best practices across the organization to optimize costs and eliminate waste + Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in Cloud FinOps and GCP offerings. + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field + 3+ years of programming experience + 1+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform + Proficiency in Python, SQL + Experience preferable in APIs, Big Query and Looker + Strong analytical thinking, self motivated, willingness to learn and contribute + Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into financial insights for diverse stakeholders. + Relevant certifications in GCP (e.g., Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Data Engineer) or FinOps (e.g., Certified FinOps Practitioner) are highly desirable.
