Finishing Graphic Designer - Foschini

The opportunity:

A DTP Operator plays a pivotal role bridging the gap between design and print production, ensuring that our visual creations come to life in our windows, in our stores and digitally with precision and craft. 

Their ability to take a brief or existing design and arrange text, images, and graphics in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing manner to further convey our brand’s message effectively across our various store concepts/ windows and various digital platforms with unique specifications is crucial to ensure the success of our Communication, VM land, Promotional call outs and activities across Fashion and Beauty ensuring consistency, accuracy of Brand CI and supporting the Brand positioning. 

They will work closely with our graphic designers, copywriters, and the rest of the marketing team to ensure impactful and accurate delivery of content to minimize risk and cost.

 

Responsibilities:

Print Production: 

They work closely with the creative team to understand project requirements, objectives, and timelines, ensuring timely delivery of design assets.

Prepare finished artwork into different sizes for final print production, ensuring accurate colour management, resolution, and file formats suitable for print, as well as digital cut downs of artwork for the various screen sizes in stores. Experience with bleeds, colour corrections, CMYK, Pantones, scoring, die-cuts etc is essential

Image Editing: 

Occasionally, they will be tasked with editing and retouching images; to enhance the quality and align them with our brand guidelines. Their creative flair in selecting appropriate visuals and optimizing them for our different platforms will contribute to the overall success and impact of our visual communication on our digital platforms and in store experience.

Digital Design: 

Take an existing design/brief and create layouts for our various digital platforms, as well as design graphics and layouts for digital platforms and cut-down’s of existing elements for the various screens in stores.

Quality Control: 

A DTP Operator is the final checkpoint before our designs go into production. They meticulously review layouts, ensuring that all elements are correctly positioned, images are high resolution, colours are accurate, and there are no typographical errors across all print files and digital assets. 

File Organisation: 

The role requires maintenance and updating of an organized file management system to ensure easy retrieval and future reference of existing and new design files and assets.

 

Requirements:

Prior experience working as a DTP Operator is an essential Thorough understanding of DTP, repro and pre-press gained in the print manufacturing sector litho and large format digital print is an advantage Must be proficient on the Apple platforms (Adobe Creative Cloud) Own transport Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced working environment. Ability to multi-task across multiple briefs at any given time Able to work independently & work well in a team environment Eagle eye for detail, and possess an accurate methodical way of working Formal qualification in Graphic Design is an advantage
