Financial Planning and Analysis Actuary

The Projections Team is a critical team within the Actuarial Department that not only calculates key reserves and capital measures but is a key partner in asset-liability management and statutory financial planning and analysis. The Financial Planning and Analysis Actuary role will lead the capability that is currently being constructed within the company after having previously relied upon third parties to complete.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Lead end-to-end statutory forecasting processBuild and enhance forecasting modelsCollaborate across Finance, Actuarial, and Investments to gather and review key inputs into the forecast Support projections productionConsolidate all projections and inputs into a comprehensive forecast packagePresent forecast results to key stakeholdersProvide key insights into drivers of Statutory financial statements Influence and support strategic management actions

In office schedule: This team member will work in the office 2-3 days per week.


The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

ASA Designation with 8 actuarial years of experience OR FSA Designation with 5 actuarial years of experienceStatutory accounting knowledge for annuity and life insurance productsHigh degree of work product ownership Continuous improvement mindsetDemonstrated analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

Actuarial projections experience preferably with AXISBe self-motivated, results-driven, and organizedEmerging Leadership skills

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Financial Risk Management: Knowledge of tools, techniques, and strategies applied in financial risk management; ability to quantify, qualify, and manage financial risk.

Insurance Products: Knowledge of insurance products, product groups and services; ability to apply the knowledge of products and services appropriately to diverse situations, including but not limited to marketing development and product consulting.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Statistics and Actuarial Modeling: Knowledge of statistical and actuarial modeling tools and techniques; ability to apply modeling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions.
