Financial Analyst - Leukemia (Clinical Research Finance)

KEY FUNCTIONS

Invoicing and Payments (50%)
Collaborates with study managers, data managers, and principal investigators in identifying payment milestones associated with clinical trial projects, identifies non-patient care research funded services, and develops/amends budgets for private industry sponsors. Performs monthly audits of active contracts to monitor payment activity. Works with Leukemia data coordinators and research nurses to collect appropriate backup and prepares invoices. Forwards invoices to Grants and Contracts through CTI, reviews OnCore financials, and reviews invoiced and paid transactions. Helps ensure that CFS are established promptly for executed or near-executed projects so that the project can begin receiving appropriate expense transactions. Manages internal transfer requests for relevant expense transactions, verifies availability of funds and authorization of IDT requests sent to General Accounting and communicated to all budget collaborators. Monitors payment distribution to ensure all payments adhere to the formal study budget Systematically reviews projects for the submission of internal payment milestone invoices, or invoice-able charges which are not formally budgeted. Provide review, guidance and assistance to faculty and administrative staff in the preparation of applications to the federal and non-profit granting agencies. Work directly with faculty, support staff and agency officials to resolve questions and problems and assist in budget preparation. Monitors Services with other departments such as Pathology, Radiology, CTRC as well as internal collaborators such as the Leukemia Clinical Research Services (LCRS)

Budget Development (25%)
Assists with proposal budget development for clinical trials in the Leukemia Department. Coordinates budget development from inception to institutional and sponsor submission and culminating in execution. This includes submissions intended for the Philanthropy Office, which do not require a detailed contractual agreement. Assists with monitoring protocol and amendments for contract, budget, and cost analysis impact. Initiates renegotiation of contracts and budgets as needed. Requests revisions of Cost Analysis as needed. Responds to GCA regarding distribution of executed contract payments, systematically review project payment status and initiates invoicing process to ensure that prospective payments are made on a timely basis. Assures that Accounting Department or appropriate departments are notified of any discrepancies and necessary adjustments. Follows up on all discrepancies and adjustments to ensure that corrections are posted to the appropriate company center.

Data Management and Reporting
Collaborates and coordinates with the department's finance team in the design and implementation of databases, queries and reports which track and monitor clinical trial company centers. This includes ensuring CFS are established and restricted appropriately, payments are made and expenses incurred appropriately, and timely review and close-out is performed. Maintain proficiency and expertise with the institution's financial systems, clinical research administrative and regulatory processes. Report as required on productivity and processes. Develops and maintains procedures for the departmental reconciliation process in compliance with the requirements set forth by the Controller's Office. Responsible for developing and maintaining financial databases for internal tracking at all stages of the research continuum.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related business specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.

Preferred: Accounting and clinical research finance experience is preferred.
