Position Summary: The Financial Analyst II – Finance & Strategic Projects is responsible for supporting strategic financial initiatives , project management, and data analysis to drive informed decision-making within Covenant Health. This position plays a key role in advancing key financial projects to drive overall value of the health system. The financial analyst will play a major role in designing and improving the annual budgeting process, ensuring operating and capital budgets are completed with utmost accuracy, and driving the enterprise’s Performance Excellence initiative. This role will interact with key executive leadership regularly and requires strong executive presence, the ability to analyze and synthesize complex data, and a strategic mindset to support enterprise-wide financial and operational initiatives. Recruiter: Kathleen Rice || kkarnes@covhlth.com || 865-374-5386 Responsibilities Budget Planning + Assists in developing, monitoring, and analyzing the operating budget to ensure alignment with organizational goals. + Provides data-driven insights and recommendations to improve budget efficiency and financial performance. + Collaborates with business unit leadership to identify key budget assumptions and drivers, supporting these leaders in their budget-development process + Supports the preparation and review of the capital budget to prioritize strategic investments. + Analyzes spending trends and prepares reports to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities. + Identifies opportunities for improvement in the budgeting process and provides recommendations to finance leadership. Capital Planning + Assists in the development of long-term capital planning, ensuring alignment with the health system’s strategic objectives. + Supports the evaluation and prioritization of capital investment proposals for financial viability and strategic fit through financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario analyses + Manages the submission, tracking, and reporting of capital requests and funding, ensuring compliance with budgets and policies. + Coordinates with stakeholders to maintain transparency on approved projects and their status as well as balances against approved budgets. Special Projects + Serves as a main driver for the enterprise’s Performance Excellence initiative, maintaining accountability and guiding business units toward success of their individual plans. + Supports the planning processes for strategic market growth, assisting in the coordination and completion of RFPs, valuations, market analysis, due diligence, etc. + Coordinates and oversees integration efforts to evaluate and consolidate key initiatives and processes to ensure streamlined, effective integrations with new business units + Provides detailed financial reports and analyses to support CFO decision-making and supports other various requests from CFO and financial leadership. + Supports initiatives to identify and implement process improvements across financial operations. + Assists in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure organizational success. + Comfortable working through ambiguous situations and able to provide structure to unstructured requests Qualifications Minimum Education: BS in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited academic program. Advanced degree or CPA preferred. Minimum Experience: Four (4) years of healthcare financial experience, or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Healthcare experience, specifically in a hospital setting, preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint, detailed operational and processing knowledge in a healthcare financial environment.
