Position Highlights: Assists management team in preparing financial and operational forecasts, reports, models and analyses to improve overall operational effectiveness for the Company/division. Position Responsibilities: Utilize knowledge of the TPH brand and division to prepare financial analysis on key operating results. Prepare month end variance analysis. Design, create, and deliver timely and accurate standard periodic reporting and ad-hoc reporting on various operational and financial metrics, providing analysis and interpretation as required and requested. Prepare monthly journal entries related to asset re-classifications and project cost allocations. Monitor and investigate gross margin variances/trends of backlog and closed homes. Develop and track key operational and financial performance metrics against the Company’s and/or division’s strategic objectives. Monthly review of detail budgeted job and direct costs versus actual performance. Suggest changes to project-level budgets based on cost-to-complete assumptions. Assist the development of all aspects of the annual business plan by working with key managers cross-functionally, including but not limited to Sales/Marketing, Construction/Ops, Purchasing, Finance/Accounting, and Land teams. Assist in developing updated quarterly forecasts/projections. Analyze current and historical financial results, perform variance analysis of key metrics, identify trends, and recommend actions. Assist leadership (e.g. Division President and/or Division Management team) with special projects related to profitability, business planning, operational efficiency, and decision making. Review financial performance against the original deal proformas/ underwriting assumptions to identify improvement opportunities and market trends. Support leadership team with weekly/monthly pricing reviews (e.g. base price, incentives, spec pricing, new price releases, etc.), and maintain pricing file. Assist in developing new improved ways to collect competitive and internal financial and market data – including, but not limited to data collection and reporting. Seek to find ways to automated processes, reports and applications where feasible and practical. Monitor key performance indicators specific to individual departments and provide high impact analysis to the leadership team. Create financial models and analysis to support strategic initiatives, identifying trends, risks, and potential areas for improvement. Analyze trends in ‘extra’ construction spend on individual lots during and after the close of escrow Assist Land Acquisition and Development team members with underwriting activities, forecasts, budget management, and performance analysis on all land deals. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a Financial Analyst position or other related fields. Recent MBA graduate preferred. Proven experience in financial reporting, data analysis, report writing, and business intelligence. Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking ability. Advanced Excel skills and ability to create financial models. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX. Knowledge of the Real Estate industry/terminology strongly preferred. Knowledge of JD Edwards, Salesforce, Hyphen Solutions desired. Demonstrated high level of attention to detail.. Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and highly analytical. Desire to apply analytical skills to understand and/or tell a story.. Demonstrated self-driven initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills Proven team player with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional team members. Excellent communication and relationship building skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
