Financial Analyst
Description We are looking for a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Whitehall, Michigan. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations, including monthly closings, inventory reporting, and compliance with internal controls. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to key financial processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: • Participate in the monthly closing process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial records. • Prepare and post journal entries based on worksheets and inventory activity, including reconciliation of inventory reports. • Oversee metal receiving functions, maintaining accurate daily records and reconciling metal receipt activities with inventory reporting. • Update and maintain worksheets for monthly melting and casting activities, recording all activity by alloy and preparing corresponding journal vouchers. • Conduct detailed reviews of expenditures, general ledger activity, and account usage to identify inaccuracies and prepare adjusting entries. • Assist in the preparation of annual department budgets, including detailed line-item analysis. • Perform monthly reconciliation between Oracle and AS400 systems, preparing necessary adjusting journal entries. • Support compliance efforts by maintaining document controls and contributing to internal assessments related to inventory and cost accounting. • Collaborate on special projects, compiling data and conducting analyses to support business decisions. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. • At least 2 years of experience in finance or accounting, including journal entry preparation and reconciliation. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software such as Word and Access. • Strong understanding of computerized reporting systems, query tools, and internal controls. • Experience in an operating or manufacturing environment. • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborate with various stakeholders. • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to perform and present financial analyses effectively.
