Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Administrator is responsible for managing financial aid packages, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations. This role plays a critical part in supporting students and families throughout the financial aid process by providing guidance on available programs, eligibility criteria, and application procedures. The Financial Aid Administrator utilizes various software systems to process aid, determines award eligibility, collaborates with other departments to address student concerns, and stays current with industry updates through professional development.
ResponsibilitiesThe Financial Aid Administrator’s (FAA) responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Meets with and counsels students, parents, and others to explain and discuss the details of the financial aid application and awarding processes, the laws and regulations governing the eligibility for and availability of federal, state, institutional and other relevant programsUtilizes federal, state and internal software to process financial aidDetermines eligibility for federal, state, institutional, and other aid programs in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, guidelines and other governing criteriaFormulates, produces and distributes financial aid award notifications and ensures that the financial aid that has been awarded is appropriately disbursed and credited to the students’ accountsDevelops and gathers appropriate materials, organizes and helps present student financial aid orientation programs, exit counseling, entrance interviews for students and their parentsAssists other coworkers as needed in any function encompassed in the job description of the FAAWorks with interdepartmental personnel to resolve students’ issuesAttends workshops, seminars and webinars for professional developmentUtilizes federal and state webinars to keep up to date with the new regulations.Attends conferences and training as approved and required QualificationsEducation/ Experience
Associate degree requiredBaccalaureate degree preferredMinimum of 1-3 years related and transferable experience requiredKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Strong customer service and organizational skillsComputer literate, experience in the Banner financial aid module a plusMust be able to multi-task and prioritize workSelf-starterProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & OutlookTravel
Locally as needed for staff coverageMay be required to travel overnight for training Maximum Salary USD $45,000.00/Yr. Minimum Salary USD $36,000.00/Yr.
