Job Specification: Financial Accountant (Group Finance)

Position Overview:

The financial accountant, based in our Group Finance team, will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyse financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) for the company’s group entities. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulations. Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close activities. Perform financial statement reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies identified. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit processes. Assist in the preparation and consolidation of group budget and forecasts. Support the implementation and maintenance of an efficient and effective financial reporting system. Review and analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and performance indicators. Provide financial advice and support to internal stakeholders across the organization. Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc financial reports and presentations as required. Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and ensure compliance in financial reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

1. SAICA Articles Completed and CA(SA) candidates only – salary dependent on qualification and experience Proven experience (5 years) as a financial accountant or similar role, preferably in a group finance function. Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) with the ability to apply them practically. Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly Excel (advanced level). Experience in financial statement preparation, consolidation, and analysis. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders effectively. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues. A solid understanding of ERP systems and financial reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is desirable. Experience in working with internal and external auditors during audit processes. Knowledge of tax principles and regulations is a plus. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
