The Role
As a Financial Accountant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Fixed and Lease Assets), you’ll focus on Fixed and Lease Assets, ensuring the application of best practice, standardisation and effective controls.
Day-to-day, you’ll be generating significant value by collaborating with the wider Babcock Finance team to support the standardisation of central finance processes in all aspects of Fixed and Lease Assets across the business:
Taking the lead on an assigned Sector for all Fixed and Lease Asset accounting to ensure compliance with company, statutory and audit requirements. Supporting the development of consistent policies for accounting for Fixed and Lease Assets across Babcock Group, implementing best practice and standardisation. Business partnering with lease asset stakeholders both internally and externally regarding the management and maintenance of ongoing leases. Management of fixed and leased asset registers to ensure correct accounting treatment of additions, disposal and depreciation policy, completeness, valuation and impairment. Preparation of Fixed and Lease Asset balance sheet reconciliations.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and requires regular travel on a monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Financial Accountant:
Hands-on experience of working within a Finance function, ideally in a complex international business environment. Experience of reviewing and improving finance processes with a fresh perspective beneficial. Sound working knowledge of Fixed and Lease accounting is a benefit. Demonstrates commercial awareness with a good understanding of the business environment including customers, competitors, etc. Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Outlook.
Qualifications for the Financial Accountant:
Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
