Job Description
Old Mutual Botswana is a member of the Old Mutual Group. We offer a wide range of short-term and long-term insurance services in Botswana with branches in Gaborone and Francistown. Our products provide insurance services to personal, commercial and corporate clients.

Qualifications/ Experience Required
Experience dealing with the IFRS17 standard.
A degree in Accounting & Finance or any other relevant degree.
At least 5 or more years’ previous work experience in another financial role.
A good understanding of accounting concepts, financial reporting standards and best practices.
Strong knowledge of IFRS.
Professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant, Actuarial, ACII, FIISA or similar.
Strong track record of delivering through others.
Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Solid knowledge in Insurance is deemed as a plus.
Certificate of Proficiency in Long or Short-term insurance issued in Botswana.
This is a 3 years Fixed Term contract.
Perform professional accounting work, including compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. The role requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles, as well as experience in bookkeeping. Responsibilities may include any or all of the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries, fixed asset or inventory accounting, preparation of trial balance or financial statements, cost accounting, bank account reconciliation.ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management and ControlWork within established systems to deliver prescribed outcomes for a designated area of financial control.
Data Collection and AnalysisCollate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Data ManagementManage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.
Insights and ReportingPrepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
Document PreparationEdit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
Information and Business AdviceProvide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
Financial Policies, Guidelines, and ProtocolsContribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Operational ComplianceMaintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.
Personal Capability BuildingDevelop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
